This Mercury in Retrograde isn’t playin around, now is it?

It's wrapping its grimy grasp around our lives and pealing open all the layers of past wounds saying, “you think this is healed? NAH GIRL, THINK AGAIN! Mwahahahaha!”

 

If you’re anything like me (which I suspect you are, you beautiful Tender Hearted soul!), it’s been rough lately. Tears are flowing, the journal pages are filling, and the tensions are high with loved ones. I want to normalize the heck out of this.

Though Mercury isn't as bad as we think it is. It's here for clearing and releasing.

When I’m in the midst of heaviness and pain, wondering WTF is up with my mood, I’ve learned to catch myself and remind myself that feeling the feels of our “uglier” emotions is normal and valid.

That's an active choice I have to drill in order to provide myself the accountability I desire.
 

I grew up believing that pain and anger were two things I wasn’t allowed to feel. Feelings were suppressed by food and distraction. I grew up thinking that the heavier emotions were ugly and to be banished away at all costs.

I subconsciously learned to believe focusing on the exterior was the goal, along with making sure people around me were comfortable. *cue people pleasing here* 
 

Through the powers of therapy and a life coach, I've done extensive work to claw myself out of this emotional shame box.

I'll be real with you: it's hurt like hell but the liberation of it all has been worth every step!

In the moments of feeling like I’m experiencing a “not okay” emotion, I have to actually remind myself “What I'm feeling is valid. This sorrow/anger is here to remind me what no longer can be.”
 

So you can cuss the retrogrades and the shadows all you want. But until you face them, they won't quiet down.
